Submission Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in Black Fox!
Black
Fox Literary Magazine is a print and online quarterly publication
featuring quality fiction of all styles and genres, poetry and
nonfiction. Our Spring issue is published in April, the summer issue is
published in July, the fall issue is published in October and the winter
issue is published in January. We accept submissions on an ongoing
basis, but do keep in mind that we do have cut off dates for each issue.
Spring Issue Submission Period: January-March
Summer Issue Submission Period: April-June
Fall Issue Submission Period: July-September
Winter Issue Submission Period: October-December
Submissions
received after the last day of the last month of a given submission
period will automatically be considered for the following issue.
Cover Art
We
are looking for artwork to be featured on the cover of our issues and
also for for inclusion in those issues. Please send your best artwork,
including drawings, photographs etc. through our submission manager
found
here.
Fiction
We're
always looking for quality fiction to be published in our quarterly
issues. We accept work based on merit and not based on genre. We enjoy
receiving submissions from under represented genres such as: YA,
romance, flash fiction, mystery, etc. We ask that you keep submissions
at 5,000 words or less and follow our guidelines for preparing your

Fiction Contest
We've
extended the deadline for our fiction contest. We are looking for
quality fiction to be featured in our Spring 2011 issue. We are
interested in short stories of 5,000 words or less in all genres and
styles, especially from under represented genres. Some examples of under
represented genres we're looking for are, but not limited to: YA,
Romance, Flash Fiction, Mystery, etc. The winning story will be awarded a
cash prize of $150 and publication in the Spring 2012 issue. The
Submission Fee is $10. The contest will run until December 1, 2011.

Website Features
We
are looking for quality poetry or flash fiction to be featured on our
website on a weekly basis. Exceptional poetry and flash pieces may be
included in one of our quarterly issues at the discretion of the
editors.There is no submission fee for our features. If you
would like one of your poems or flash fiction pieces to be considered,
please submit through our submission manager found
here.
Nonfiction
We're
now accepting submissions of nonfiction through our online submission
manager. We're looking for personal essays and creative nonfiction.
There is no submission fee, but please prepare your manuscript according
to our guidelines.
Blog Posts
We'll
be launching The Black Fox blog soon and we're looking for
contributors. We are particularly interested in articles on the craft of
writing, book reviews, book news, and publishing news. If it's writing,
book, or publishing related then this is the place for it. If we like
your article we'll publish it to our blog. Submit your articles through

Preparing Your Manuscript:
Please
make sure your manuscript is double spaced with 12 point font.
Submissions should be no more than 5,000 words. Author's name, and page
number should appear in the top right hand corner of every page.

We accept submissions through our submission Manager found
here.
We only accept online submissions. We DO NOT accept submissions by
email. If submissions are sent via email they will automatically be
discarded without notice. We do not accept previously published work. We
accept simultaneous submissions, but we ask that you notify us if
your work is accepted elsewhere.
Payment
We
do plan to pay our writers. However, we can't offer payment just yet.
Writers will be published in one of our issues depending on the
submission period. Writers who enter the fiction contest will be
compensated. Our first place winner will receive a cash prize of $150.
Second and third place winners will be awarded a cash prize of at least
$25 each. We will increase the amount awarded to winners based
on the amount of submissions we receive.
