The Black Fox team is pleased to announce our newest additions! Please welcome the nine writers who will be joining our reading team. Monica Flores was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. She is currently a senior at Nevada State College, majoring in English with a minor in Creative Writing. During her free time she enjoy reading comic books and fiction stories, playing guitar, playing her Nintendo Switch, and hanging out with her husband, dogs, and cats. She currently owns a small business, Phyto’s Vegan Eats which is a small vegan hot dog cart pop-up, and is a passionate animal advocate who partakes animal activism. Monica is an aspiring writer and hopes to share her stories with the world.
Rachel Gonzalez is a writer from Goodyear, Arizona. She holds a BA in English with certificates in Creative Writing and Literature, and will be finishing her MA in English Literature this winter. She is the acting writer-in-residence for The Fictional Cafe. An avid hiker and rock climber, she never leaves the house without a book or a pen. Some of her favorite authors are John Green, Becky Chambers, Fredrik Backman, Forrest Leo, Isabel Allende, TJ Klune, Cherrie Moraga, and JRR Tolkien.
Bernie Groves is a Connecticut-born, Georgia-raised, Chicago-based writer with publications in Arkana Literary Magazine, Welter Literary Journal, MASKS Magazine, Under a Warm Green Linden, and other literary journals. An MFA graduate from Columbia College Chicago, Bernie is currently working on a hybrid magical-realist novel. Liana Johnson is a writer living in New York City. Her work appears in the South Shore Review and is forthcoming in MoonPark Review. She has an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts.

Lillian Morton is an MFA student who lives in Seattle, Washington. A few of her favorite authors include Ursula Le Guin, Lois Lowry, and Sylvia Plath. Her poetry has been included in Polaris and Laurel Moon. You can find her trying to recklessly spend money at Pike Place Market and looking at pictures of schnauzers on her phone. Kait Quinn (she/her) is a Minneapolis-based poet with a B.A. in English Writing from St. Edward’s University. She is the author of four poetry collections, and her work has appeared in Reed Magazine, Watershed Review, Olney Magazine, Chestnut Review, and elsewhere. She received first place in the League of MN Poets’ 2022 John Calvin Rezmerski Memorial Grand Prize and honoroable mention in the 2023 Stephen A. DiBiase Poetry Prize. She enjoys repetition, coffee shops, vegan breakfast foods, and spending time with her partner, their regal cat, and their very polite Aussie Mix.
Alexander Lazarus Wolff’s writing has appeared in The Best American Poetry website, Poets.org, The Citron Review, NDQ, The Society of Classical Poets, South Florida Poetry Journal, Main Street Rag, Serotonin, and elsewhere. He graduated with honors from the College of William & Mary, where he won The Academy of American Poets Prize. He is a poetry editor for The Plentitudes. An MFA candidate, he teaches and studies at the University of Houston, where he is the recipient of three fellowships. Alex Wollinka lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she is studying English at Colorado College. She has interned with Dzanc Books and is currently Editor-in-Chief of Cipher Magazine, a student-led publication. She enjoys writing short stories and novels, and she also works as a consultant at her college’s Writing Center. In her free time, Alex can be found painting, running, watching horror movies, and of course, reading. Some of her favorite authors include Kali Fajardo-Anstine, Clarice Lispector, Franz Kafka, and Neil Gaiman.
