As promised, we’re giving you the second set of prompts related to our current writing contest theme, Rhapsody of Regret! We hope the prompts provide you with inspiration and get you motivated to put words on the page! Even if you don’t plan to submit to the Black Fox Prize, these prompts offer a great starting point for a short story, poem, or creative nonfiction piece! Happy writing as always!

1. What happens when we come to terms with the regret of not following our true passion earlier in life? What motivates us to finally pursue it?
2. Write about the aftermath of a decision that led to someone else’s misfortune. How is guilt and regret handled?
3. Explore the regret of sacrificing our own happiness for the sake of someone else’s dreams. Do we ever find a way to reconcile our own desires?
4. Write a story about a character who discovers a mysterious object that allows them to relive a day from their past. Describe how they choose to use the object, and what they learn from the experience.
5. Imagine a world where people can physically see the regrets of others. How do these regrets show up? How does this concept impact society and relationships?
