Announcing fall classes by The Black Fox Writing Academy! Join us for Burning Down the Haunted House (Trope): How Architecture Amplifies Horror with Atina Hartunian.
This class will be held live via Zoom and WILL be recorded.
Class Description:
Burning Down the Haunted House (Trope): How Architecture Amplifies Horror, examines how architectural elements in literature reflect and heighten horror, moving from Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher” to contemporary works like In the Dream House and Model Home. It’s designed as an hour and fifteen-minute talk with a visual presentation, handouts, close readings, and discussion prompts to spark new thinking around horror and setting. Students will leave with new tools to stretch their craft and understanding of the haunted house beyond its traditional forms into more inventive territory.
Writers of all levels may register via our Submittable page.
When: October 28, 2026, from 6:30-8 PM ET
Investment for the workshop: $39
*Zoom access info for live attendees will be sent out immediately via Submittable, so be sure to check under the messages tab. Recorded class access will be sent out within 24 hours after the class concludes.
Thank you so much for considering the Black Fox Writing Academy!
