About Us
Black Fox Literary Magazine was founded by Racquel Henry, Pamela Harris, and Marquita Hockaday. The three writers met during an MFA program at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey.

Here at Black Fox, we publish both established and new writers. We welcome all fiction, but we especially like fiction from under-represented genres and styles.

The Editors:

 Racquel Henry

Racquel Henry is first and foremost a writer. In order to pay the bills, she is also a part time Administrative Assistant at a law firm in Tampa, FL., where she currently resides. Much to her own surprise, she actually enjoys the job that helps put food on the table. Racquel writes literary fiction in hopes of being published sometime in the near future. She also enjoys reading a variety of genres, and is currently obsessed with flash fiction. Some of her favorite authors include, Lorrie Moore, Joyce Carol Oates, John Updike, Sophie Kinsella, and Toni Morrison. She is currently an MFA student at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she is preparing to graduate in the Fall of 2011. At the moment she is searching for a new school to call home, and to pursue a Ph.D. degree. You can follow her journey on her very own blog entitled, “Racquel Writes.”

Pam Harris

Pam Harris lives in Carrollton, VA where she works as a middle school counselor. When she isn't wiping tears and helping kids study for tests, she's writing contemporary YA fiction. Some of her favorite authors are Ellen Hopkins, Courtney Summers, Jodi Picoult, and Stephen King. You can also find her at the movie theaters every weekend or pretending to enjoy exercising. She will receive her MFA in creative writing in 2011, and is currently thinking long and hard about pursuing a Ph.D. in English Literature.

Marquita Hockaday

The name's Marquita "Quita" Hockaday and she lives in Carrollton, Virginia (a small honky tonk town near Hampton and Newport News). She is a high school history teacher who has never been able to shake her love of writing and reading. There is always, always a book near her. Marquita is currently enjoying writing Young Adult (historical and contemporary) and every now and then she enjoys writing a contemporary adult short story. In the same vein, she loves reading Young Adult (YA) literature now and also really enjoys contemporary, paranormal, and historical YA. Some of her favs so far are Laurie Halse Anderson, Blake Nelson, Justine Larbalestier, Suzanne Collins, Maggie Stiefvater, and Lauren Oliver. Marquita also enjoys reading adult contemporary-she so wants to write like Cormac McCarthy and Joyce Carol Oates-and enjoys her Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris and John Grisham and Dean Koontz. She loves watching movies (one day she WILL watch every scary movie ever created) and TV. Like, seriously her cousin Pam and her schedule everything around their TV shows. Marquita is expected to graduate with an MFA in Creative Writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2011, and is considering a Ph.D. degree in English Literature.
